2nd Grade - Painted Paper Weave with Floral Watercolor Collage

Lesson Plan Objective -
NY State Learning Standard 1(Creating, performing, and participating in the arts)
1. Students will experience the basic process of weaving. Students will create a paper weaving using a painted paper background, and paper strips.

NY State Learning Standard 2 (Knowing and using arts materials and resources)
2. Students will use white paper, printed patterned papers, watercolor paint, pencil, rulers, glue, and scissors to create a weaving.

NY State Learning Standard 3 (Responding to and analyzing works of art)
3. Students will be exposed to examples of fabric and paper weavings.

NY State Learning Standard 4 (Understanding the cultural dimensions of the arts)
4. Students will understand how weaving is one of the most ancient forms of human creativity, an ancient process used worldwide in many cultures.
