Biography

Born in Port Jefferson Station, New York, Theresa D. Meyer-Kurka is a New York State Certified Art Teacher, residing in Islip, on the south shore of Long Island, since 1975.

She holds a BFA in Design Graphics from New York Institute of Technology (Old Brookville), and a MS in Art Education from Long Island University, at C.W. Post (Old Brookville, NY). Meyer-Kurka managed to graduate from L.I.U. with an over all G.P.A. of 3.88, while juggling the greatest task.... Parenthood!

In 2005, Meyer-Kurka completed her New York State student teaching requirements. Her first placement for secondary art education, was at the Islip Middle School in Islip, New York. Meyer-Kurka’s second placement for elementary art education, was at the Tremont Avenue Elementary School in Patchogue, New York. Coincidentally, Meyer-Kurka attended both schools as a child!

Meyer-Kurka worked in the field of Graphic Design, prior to her teaching degree.
